Christy Carlson Romano

pichomeThe sweet-voiced Christy Carlson Romano got her start as one of the orphans in a production of Annie. She later toured with The Sound of Music as one of the Von Trapp children (with Marie Osmond playing the role of Maria) but growing up with the nickname “Aretha Franklin Wannabe” pointed to something more ambitious. Playing a singing banana in Woody Allen’s Everybody Says I Love You wasn’t enough either so Romano auditioned for the role of Tawny, a secondary character on the Disney Channel’s original comedy Even Stevens. She didn’t get it, but instead got the lead role, Ren Stevens. Disney later used Romano to be the voice of Kim Possible, an animated action gal whose show became a hit. In 2004, Disney released her self-titled debut album. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

Christy Carlson Romano has ‘Class’!  November 22, 2007

So what has the “Even Stevens” and “Kim Possible” actress been up to lately? Aside from doing charity work in her hometown of Milford, Christy Carlson Romano has been promoting Connecticut to Hollywood. She was recently seen at the Capitol for a meeting of the Hollywood East task force, which is developing strategies to continue attracting film productions (state’s 30 percent tax breaks for film productions). Says Christy Carlson Romano, “There’s a lot of competition out there. And it’s great that Connecticut, the wonderful state it is, is being progressive and being consistent. It’s a huge opportunity with all the diverse settings and locations that we have here.” And to fast-track the state’s “Hollywood East” reputation, Christy Carlson Romano is co-producing (and may act in) a love story called “Class”. It is currently in pre-production for possible spring filming around Yale University in New Haven and the state Capitol. “I’m very excited to be part of it,” Christy said, describing the movie as “a female ‘Good Will Hunting’.”

Christy Carlson Romano goes home  November 8, 2007

Not to leave her Hollywood career, but just to help her hometown, Milford. According to reports, Christy Carlson Romano will help Milford’s three Catholic elementary schools this coming November 18. The 23-year old actress will make two separate appearances at the Parsons Veterans Memorial Auditorium to benefit the scholarship and endowments of St. Gabriel, St. Ann and St. Mary schools. Christy Carlson Romano will first give a private reading and book signing of her coming-of-age novel “Grace’s Turn” from 1 to 3 pm. Then, from 3:15 to 4:30, she will discuss the highs and lows of her career, which began at age 6.

The event will end with a celebrity memorabilia auction conducted by Mayor James L. Richetelli. The grand prize is either a walk-on appearance in Romano’s upcoming movie, scheduled to film in New Haven next spring, or lunch with the star. WOW! Milford residents, here’s your chance to appear in a Hollywood movie, lol! Says Christy Carlson Romano via a phone call last Monday: “It’s always a pleasure to come back to Milford for the holidays and help out. We’ll have an afternoon of activities to help the schools.” Nice one Christy! It’s always great to see celebrities who pay homage to their hometowns where they first began =)

Disney’s “Even Stevens” star Christy Carlson Romano is slated to appear in MTV’s latest scripted drama “Kaya”. The said show is about a young woman (Kaya) whose rock band Crossing Coldwater becomes an overnight rock sensation. A dream come true but the lead character then struggles to come to terms with her own identity as the band’s relationship suffers when egos clash and hidden jealousies surface. According to reports, “Kim Possible” voice talent Christy Carlson Romano is set to guest star later in the show’s current season. She will play the lead singer of a rival band and has eyes for one of the Crossing Coldwater cutie guys. Hmm, lead singer… Can Christy give justice to her rocker chick role? After all, she’s got a great voice that landed her the “Kim Possible” project. Well, we shall soon find out! Catch “Kaya” starting this Monday, October 22 at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on MTV.

Christy Carlson Romano stars in a teen comedy!  October 9, 2007

Kim Possible and Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano is set to star in a teen comedy entitled Taking 5. She plays the character of Danielle, the role as yet undefined. The movie is all about the escapades of two teen-band worshippers, Gabby and Devon. They are best friends and ultimate fans of mega-boy band 5 Leo Rise (played by real band The Click Five). When they ruin their high school’s chance to win a free concert, the desperate pair schemed to kidnap 5 Leo Rise to play in their high school. Sounds really fun huh? =) I just hope Christy Carlson Romano has a big role in the movie. She’s really talented, what’s lacking are good projects that will enable her to shine. According to MarVista, Taking 5’s international distributor, “There is a strong demand in the marketplace right now for movies of this genre [teen], given the success of High School Musical.” Right on dude! When you have the success as she has, you can afford to have a nice house build for you or your parents. I remember one star who was from nebraska built an add on to their parents house, they paid for everything from the trash container dumpster rental company in omaha, to the new lawn care they had done. Thats giving back to your parents in a big way.
